How the number is made

An IQ score is a position on a curve, not a count of right answers. Two people with the same number of correct items can land in different places depending on which items they got.

The domains
The six sections follow the Cattell-Horn-Carroll model, the taxonomy that modern clinical batteries are organised around. Each one samples a different broad ability rather than re-testing the same trick.
The items
Matrix and spatial problems are built from explicit transformation rules, so every key is right by construction. Verbal items are hand-written with one defensible answer and no distractor repeats a visible cell.
The score
A three-parameter logistic model weighs each item by its difficulty and how well it separates people. A lucky guess on an easy item counts for less than a hard one solved. You get a 95% interval, not just a point.
The scale
The 100 / 15 scale is anchored on a 20,000-person normative simulation and re-checked by an automated calibration suite every time an item changes.
